Happy New Year - January 1, 2006

Happy New Year! Thanks to all the folks who came out and supported us at performances, throughout 2005. FLY TO BLUE has gained a lot of momentum lately, because of our dedicated fan base, who believe in what we do and enjoy live independent music. Many of whom have taken the initiative to tell others about us, and bring their friends and family to shows. We look forward to connecting with you more in 2006, as we predict a fun and successful year reaching many more people with our music, and it means a lot to us to be able to share our musical spirits with you.

Best Performance Award - December 20, 2005

David Gunn won "Best Performance" at the East Bays West Coast Songwriters Association monthly open mic hosted at the Freight and Salvage in Berkeley. David won while performing his song entitled "Sail On Home. "

Best Song Award - December 17, 2005

Valarie won the "Best Song" award at the South Bay's West Coast Songwriters Association monthly open mic for her song entitled "Linger." The prize is 3 hours of free studio time from a local studio, plus entrance into the play offs in August.

FLY TO BLUE now has a CD sampler available at live performances for $5. There are 7 songs on the sampler.

Tour to San Diego - November 28, 2005

FLY TO BLUE traveled to San Diego to perform on the 'Green Room' stage at Twiggs over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. FLY TO BLUE was very well recieved and have been asked to come back to perform at Twiggs again in the future. Thanks to the fans that came out and supported us in San Diego. Mahalo!!

In the Studio - November 12, 2005

Fly to Blue has been in the studio lately, working on some new songs. Check back soon for the finished product.

Best Song Award - October 15, 2005

David won "Best Song", yet again, with his song entitled "Sail On Home" at the South Bay West Coast Songwriters Association Open Mic. David has won 3 hours of free studio time with a local studio.

New Songs Performed Live - October 1, 2005

Alright, in case you haven't caught a show recently, David and Valarie have both written a few new songs that they are performing. David has written a heartfelt and thought provoking song entilted "52", dedicated to the people who died in the London bombings. Valarie has been performing her new songs "Linger" a folksy love song, and "It's Green" about making it through the winter to spring. Winter 2004-2005 was her first notable winter in 7 years, since livng in the tropics and subtropics. It was so cold that both Valarie and David were spotted wearing real shoes!!! So, catch a show and hear these and other new goodies.

Back to School - September 2, 2005

Valarie is back to school and back to her bookworm self, studying far too much than is good for her. Performances have been scheduled more scarcely to accommodate the scholarly schedule

New Dean Markley Guitar - August 21, 2005

Valarie has a new Dean Markley Acoustic Guitar. Top of the line, fantastic, and a dream to play...Oh the timbre, the tone, the action!!!

In the Studio - July 9, 2005

Valarie and David went into the studio with percussionist/bassist Jon Harris and recorded 4 songs; Fly to Blue, Hold On, Unravel, and Island. These recordings along with a few others will be available at shows as a CD sampler.

Best Performance Award - April 26, 2005

David won 'Best Performance' at the West Coast Songwriters Open Mic for the South Bay at the Espresso Garden Cafe while performing his song "Further Down."

Best Song Award - March 27, 2005

David won "Best Song" at the West Coast Songwriters Open Mic in the South Bay at the Espresso Garden Cafe. He won for his song; " Sail on Home."

Best Song Award - February 28, 2005

David won the West Coast Songwriter's Open Mic in February for his song; "Sail On Home" at the East Bay event at the Freight and Salvage, in Berkeley.

Lady Six String Lyric Contest - February 20, 2005

Valarie is the 2004 Lady Six String Lyric Contest winner for the lyrics to her song "Mirror." The prize was an electric guitar.
